| 内容記述 | It is important for the students to learn languages voluntarily in the language laboratory (the LL) and our self-instruction room (the SI room). In this article the author considers what the LL and the SI room should be, and how we should systemize the SI room as an audio-visual library and considers how effectively learners should use the SI room for language learning. First, in order to grasp what the students of our university think and how they use the SI room, the author gave them 2 questionnaires (one in May and the other in July). Through the results of these questionnaires, the author was able to find some information. As a result of the questionnaires and the statistical analysis of how the students used the SI room, there are three points to consider. One is the need of the orientation for the students to use the SI room and another is to motivate the students to learn languages in the SI room and also to grasp the students' ability through the communication with the other English teachers and all other students. Second, the author visited 14 universities for a research on the LL and the SI rooms of other universities. From my researsh, our university needs more staff and equipment to be installed to finish the systemization of the SI room as an AV library. I am indebted my colleagues at other universities who have given information to complete my task. Lastly, the SI room should have a CALL system (that the author doesn't mention jn detail here) in the future plan of the SI room. |
