The increasing use of solid-state power-conversion equipment and other power electric device on distribution systems is causing utilities to become much more concerned about harmonic voltage and current levels on these systems. A distribution system equipped with both power converters and power-facter-improvement capacitors is especially vulnerable to capacitor failure, communication circuit interference and so forth.
To understand the harmonic patterns on some distribution systems with four different load groups, the magnitude and phase angle information of harmonic and fundamental currents and voltages were obtained by using two conventional harmonic recorders for substation measurements from the potential transformer and current transformer secondary. |
